Oddly, the house exhibits do a poor job of telling the intertwined stories of Protestant John Knox and the Catholic goldsmith who built and lived in the house most of his life. But if you read up on the basic history first, the house and exhibits are quite fascinating. Bonus is a large, bright, comfy "storytelling" cafe. The whole enterprise is the brainchild of a storyteller (didn't experience that part of it, but you can get in-character storytelling tours of the house and environs).
