  Stayed for one night. Had a great room over looking the park and I could see the castle. Great location for site seeing and shopping. Was a bit nervous before arriving having read some of the previous reviews. However, found there was nothing to be nervous about. This was a 3* star hotel and did 'what it said on the tin'. The room was good; tea and coffee etc was provided although only 2 teabags which I felt was a bit mean. I ate in the restaurant for my evening meal which I enjoyed. If you want to sit by the window to admire the view I would recommend you book. Breakfast was good too but I would have liked a warm plate for my hot food. Would stay there again.

  The hotel was lovely, great location, room could do with update bur was nice. The restaurant was another story. Sitted for 8 didn't get drink till 8:50. Waited for starter which was meant to be salt and pepper squid but was bland and tasteless. Main was also disappointing as new potatoes tasted like had been received heated in micro. Hubby's steak meant to be medium rare was well done and cold. Taken away and hole plate to heat up. Then even drier. Couldn't eat it. Breakfast and disaster 2.

  Excellent food, the breakfast was varied and the dinner had the best presentation I have ever seen( I personally recommend the melon). The rooms are modern but some are either small with a great view or big with not so great view. However, the best part of the experience is the location. You are literally steps way form the largest department store in Edinburgh. If you fancy public transport buses and trains are near by.
