  I've been to Hendersons two times on my trip to Edinburgh because I'm vegan and didn't know where else to go.
  The food wasn't bad but nothing special and in my opinion the prices are too high for food which is not freshly made and was kept warm in the tray for hours, probably.
  
  But the real critique is the service. I was not familiar with the self-serving and the different options at first but the lady there was not showing any effort to explain what they are offering. And when you ask about ingredients or anything else you just get a snippy answer.
  
  You really get the impression that they don't enjoy what they are doing and that they dont actually wanna sell something. Because when I asked to have a salad with the main the woman looked at me as I was crazy.
  
  For me it was the last time there.

  Found a hair in my butter, as well as the glass I received had a lipstick mark on it. Paid £20 for two cups of soup, two tiny bottles of bear and a salad, which is not too cheap. The only thing I liked was the artwork on the wall. Not the best experience. I say pay more attention to cleanliness please.
  Gave two stars because the staff were nice.

  This place has a 1960's commune vibe to it that makes it fun to visit. The food is really tasty, creative vegetarian food that even a carnivore could like. I loved the vegetarian haggis! Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous. Definitely worth a visit.
